About SideLights

WHY SIDELIGHTS?

Cycling is a great, environmentally friendly, and increasingly popular mode of transport. However, the safety of cyclists is severely tested by traffic. Cyclists are not visible enough, yet half of all accidents could be avoided if the cyclist were seen 1 second earlier. Current lighting systems lack visibility and have not kept pace with the evolution of cycling in recent years.

One evening, while cycling, Arthur Claessens had the idea for SideLights: a complete lighting system integrated into the handlebars. Gradually, the concept evolved into hand-made prototypes, notably produced by two former student colleagues from HEIG-VD: Tim Hofer and Claude Allenspach.
